National Garden Scheme OPEN DAY

Bardsey, 11 Derby Road, Haslemere GU27 1BS

The garden is often featured in Surrey Life and frequently hosts gardening clubs from around the UK and Northern Europe. It sits on two-acres of greensand and clay, currently separated into 4 distinct areas. Fragrant herb and rose parterre bordered by lavender and ilex crenata; pink, purple and white herbaceous borders; raised vegetable beds and caged fruit garden. The lower garden comprises several natural ponds, one with ducks, an area of fruit trees, including a Bardey apple tree, all within a large chicken run. A ‘must see’ garden.

Seale and Sands Summer Show

Sands Recreation Ground, Littleworth Rd, The Sands, Farnham GU10 1NE

The superb annual Seale and Sands Summer Show has a 'Beside the Seaside' theme this year. Expect gloriously traditional seaside fun with something for all the family. There is an exhibition tent full of produce, arts and crafts, Dog Disorder, classic vehicles, ‘Morris men’, maypole dancing and there will even be somewhere to make sand castles! Everyone is most welcome and entry is free.

Farnham Town Centre Cycle Races

Spire Church, South Street, Farnham

Cheer on riders in this free to attend, exciting, fast paced cycle racing on closed roads around the town centre one-way system. The short circuit leads to non-stop action at every location. Races are; 18:00 Farnham Town Council Youths 18:40 Hoops Velo 3rd category men 19:20 Women E/1/2/3 categories 20:00 Pedal Heaven Elite/1/2 categories. Drinks, beer, wine and food and a BBQ at Spire Church in South St.

Petersfield Shakespeare Festival

Bedales School, Church Rd, Steep, Petersfield GU32 2DG

This annual summer festival is dedicated to performing an entertaining tribute to Shakespeare in a unique and enchanting open-air setting. It will run from 12th to 28th July presenting a new play Abyss (a one-woman show inspired by the painting Ophelia Drowning) on 12th and 13th, followed by The Comedy of Errors on 17th to 22nd and Hamlet on 24th - 28th July. Bring a picnic and enjoy a superb summer evening's entertainment!

Jazz in the Barn

The Barn, Godsfield Manor, Old Alresford, Winchester SO24 9RQ

Jazz in the Barn is a unique opportunity to enjoy a performance from rising British jazz vocalist Rosina Bullen and her band playing a selection of jazz, folk and original compositions in aid of Treloar's School & College. Winner of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Anjool Maldé Jazz Prize, Rosina recently performed at Dizzy's Jazz Club at the Lincoln Centre, The 55 Bar in New York and the Vortex Jazz Club in London plus the 2018 EFG Jazz Festival. Tickets are £38 per person and include a welcome glass of champagne and canapés.

Without hesitation or repetition (and just a touch of deviation), Just a Minute regular Gyles delivers a dazzling hour of wit, wisdom, high drama, low comedy, and hilarious name-dropping.

Gilbert White Day!

Join in the celebrations of famous Victorian naturalist Gilbert White’s 299th birthday!
This family event is packed full of fun and surprises and will take you back to the 18th Century with lots of games, crafts and birthday celebrations! Explore the main house and the historic features of the garden which include the original Haha, Sundial and Fruit Wall as well as the Great Oak planted in 1730. Much of the garden has been recreated using the notes Gilbert White kept in his ‘Garden Kalendar’.

Plant Fair Roadshow

Back for a second time at Chawton House, visitors can view a collection of leading specialist nurseries offering a wide range of bulbs, perennials, herbs shrubs and trees.
With a variety of nurseries attending, there’s something for everyone. Hosted by Plant Fairs Roadshow, their ‘Plant Doctor’ will be offering free consultations and help to diagnose your horticultural ailments and provide prescriptions for a beautiful garden!

As well as a variety of stalls available for visitors to browse, tea and homemade cakes will be served in the Grade II listed Dyers barn on the Chawton Estate.
There will be up to 30 stalls inside and outside offering a plethora of interesting and unusual items for purchase. Find collectible books and china; quirky curios; clocks; vintage clothing and hats; kitchenalia; ephemera; hand sewn and knitted items; hand turned wooden pens; upcycled furniture, jewellery, cards and Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian antiques, plus lots more.

Summer of Music: Nadina String Quartet

Guided Walk at Home Farm

Home Farm, Burkham, Nr Alton (car park off Spain Lane) GU34 5RT

Set in a rolling landscape of farmland, woods and hedgerows, Home Farm is one of the largest native woodland creation sites in southern England.
The 340 acre site is a mosaic of different habitats, including open grassland, conifer woodland and an area of ancient semi-natural woodland. Since the Woodland Trust purchased the land in 1990, they have planted around 67,000 trees and shrubs to create new woodland. Your knowledgeable guide will take you on a walk to look more closely at the trees and woods of Home Farm and the wildlife and rare birds that live there.

Summer of Sport

Devil’s Punch Bowl, London Road, Hindhead, Surrey, GU26 6AB

Take part in a wide range of family-friendly summer sport activities. It's a chance for the whole family to take part, get active and take in a dose of fresh air in the great outdoors. From 10th to 18th August enjoy a summer of fun and games as the Devil's Punch Bowl gets in the sporting spirit. On the green near the viewpoint their will be a variety of free sporty fun where you can challenge friends and family to sports games such as badminton, football or bowls. Open to all ages and completely free to take part, all you need to bring is some competitive sporty energy.

Dog Fun Day

Meeting point: Woolbeding Parkland. Take Woolbeding turning off the A272

A really fun day with your dog in the beautiful countryside surroundings of Woolbeding near Midhurst. Take part in a dog show, see working dog demos, have a go dog agility, take part in the country dog challenge, top tips on dog obedience and training, meet our cows and sheep, enjoy local stalls and refreshments. Know what to do when there's livestock in fields. Plenty of stalls, activities and refreshments to enjoy. This event is free but it's £1 to enter each dog show class or for your dog to have a go on the agility course or other activities.

The Thatched Cottage:
Hidden behind this 16th Century cottage lies a 1½ acre sheltered south-facing paradise which encourages exploration.
Berry Cottage:
A beautiful organic cottages garden with year-round interest with colour themed borders and many unusual plants.

Petersfield Arts & Crafts Society Exhibition

An exciting exhibition of over 700 paintings, ceramics, textiles, glass, woodwork and much more from professional and amateur artists working in and around the Petersfield area. Most of the works from members of this well-established arts society are for sale during the event.

Secret Widget Fest

A fantastic fun festival celebrating Classic Blues and Rock. It’s an amazing showcase of blues and rock in their many forms, from the 60's to the present day plus a whole host of things to do, including a retro FUN FAIR with Dodgems, Big Wheel, Candy Floss, Waltzer and other rides, a Sci-Fi Zone with real Daleks and loads of other interesting stalls.
Set in 190 acres of beautiful rural landscape, at the foot of the Surrey Hills. Hurtwood Park is a magnificent location and a stunning backdrop to The Secret Widget Fest’s 2019 Blues, Blues Rock and Folk Rock party.
