Petersfield Music Festival

For more than a century, it has promoted music-making in and around Petersfield, bringing together local singers and instrumentalists of all ages to share the platform with visiting musicians of national and international standing. The 2020 Petersfield Musical Festival - which is being held over 8 days - will showcase an exciting programme of concerts and a wide range of performers and music - including choral, orchestral, opera, solo instrumental, chamber music and a special screening of a Chaplin film, with live music accompaniment. They will also be celebrating 250 years since the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven.

Luxury Chocolate Making

The Big One Fishing Show

Enjoy a day or weekend at the famous Big One Show in Farnborough. It's the place to be to shop for tackle and bait for the season ahead, see new product launches and to get advice and instruction from the biggest names in the industry. This year's line-up of speakers is looking incredible and no matter what day you're attending the show can guarantee that you will get to see some of the best in the business in action. This year there are so many stars, there are three stages that you will be able to visit. This will be the first opportunity for you get your hands on the new season's kit and get buying advice from the experts who created it. From big-ticket items like rods and reels, poles and boxes, to bivvies, bait and thousands of cutting-edge accessories, you'll find everything you need for a successful season.

Steam Toy Rally

Rural Life Living Museum, Reeds Road, Tilford, Farnham GU10 2DL

The museum’s buildings will be alive with the sounds of steam-driven toys of yesteryear. An event for the whole family and children of all ages! A fascinating day particularly for those who have never seen a steam toy in action. The museum will be full of these historic toys, many of which will be stationary engines alongside a colourful display of steam-powered road vehicles and trains.

A friendly, monthly market, selling hand-made goods from local crafters and producers. The current range of stallholders include cards, cakes, savouries, jams, chutneys, local honey, jewellery, cushions, quilting, knitted items, glassware, photographic clocks, handmade soaps, free range eggs, plants in season and other small gifts.

Grayshott Pottery's one day courses are the perfect start for people wanting to try their hand at throwing clay on a potter's wheel. They run these courses in small class sizes to ensure you get as much one-on-one tuition as possible. The course includes clay preparation, throwing bowls and upright pots and one masterpiece fired & glazed. Grayshott Pottery will also provide refreshments throughout the day and a tasty lunch with the group in the Kiln Café.

After Hours Curator Tours

Explore Chawton House on one of these special after hours tours. Discover the house’s hidden history, hear stories of the Austen and Knight families and learn about the women writers in our collection. This will be a chance to soak up the atmosphere after hours and meet the curatorial team behind the newly hung galleries. The tour will take you on a journey of Chawton House, starting with the story of the Knight family who built the Elizabethan manor house, Jane Austen’s brother Edward who inherited it and Jane Austen herself, who spent much time here and referred to it as ‘the Great House’. Upstairs, you’ll see the portraits which represent the library collection of 9,000 volumes of rare early women’s writers and hear about their fascinating lives.

A regular monthly double-market event in Alton. Enjoy the great taste of Hampshire, savour the delights of truly local food reared, grown, baked, caught and brewed in Hampshire. Springtime Easter Activities

Butser Ancient Farm, Chalton Lane, Waterlooville PO8 0BG

Visit Butser Ancient Farm this Easter. Meet newborn baby lambs, go on the hunt for clues to crack their spring-time trail and learn a new skill with a hands-on demonstration (selected dates and times).
Over the Easter weekend you can meet the Saxons from Herigeas Hundas who will be there from Friday 10 to Monday 13 April with demonstrations, traditional crafts, cooking and combat displays. This year they will also be joined by Iron Age Britons and Pictish Warriors! On 18 and 19 April the Romans from the Butser IX Legion will also be taking up residence in the Roman Villa with displays, demonstrations and an insight into Roman life. Every day of the holidays there will be the chance to get hands on with some DIY archaeology experiments from mini mosaic making to wattling. The Easter holidays are also a chance to see the Wickerman being constructed and have a sneak peak at the top secret 2020 design!
*Any guided activities will run in sessions between 11.00am and 3.00pm.

The Dinosaurs are back at Birdworld this Easter! Stomp down to Birdworld this Easter and hunt for the Dinosaurs and their missing eggs! Have fun in the sun with dinosaur themed Arts & Crafts on the Safari Lawn and enjoy entertainment on selected days throughout the two weeks!
Easter also brings the return of the famous Outdoor Flying Display, where you can watch as Birdworld’s very own Flying Team stretch their wings and swoop close by in this informative event that continues to impress visitors year after year! Don’t forget all the other daily events and shows, including the indoor Discovery Theatre Show, Penguin and Pelican Feedings, and so much more!

Family Walks: Easter Holiday

Join a fun family walk aimed at younger visitors and their families. Find out how the children of Chawton lived long ago and discover all about Jane Austen’s love of nature and the outdoors by spying trees, plants and animals along the way.
