Chawton House Bonfire Night Special

Chawton House, Chawton, Nr Alton, GU34 1SJ

Soak up the atmosphere of Chawton house by candlelight in this rare after hours opening. Warm by the fire in the Great Hall with a cup of delicious mulled cider before heading to the village to watch Chawton's fireworks spectacular. Perfect early evening for the whole family.

Wine Fair

Petersfield Festival Hall, GU31 4EA

The General Wine company wine fair is at the Festival Hall in Petersfield. They will be hosting tutored tastings and masterclasses and offering the opportunity to sample over 250 wines and gins. Tickets for entry are £10 in advance and can be purchased at their shops in Petersfield and Liphook or online - or £15 on the door.

Photography Workshop

Enjoy a day of creativity within the Hampshire Countryside, at the beautiful Chawton House with exclusive access to the house and gardens!
Well-known photographer, Claire Lewis will guide and support you, to take your photography to the next level. Don't worry about what type of camera you have, as it's all about enjoying the craft of capturing images.
The day will end with a light lunch with discussion in more detail about your photography skills and areas for improvement. No need to worry about the weather – if it rains, as the focus will turn to the indoor beauty of the amazing house! All levels are invited to join, tasks will be set for each level, so from beginner to advanced, there will be something for all.

Fireworks, Torchlit Procession & Bonfire

Farnham Park, Folly Hill, Farnham, GU9 0AU

As always, the spectacular Farnham Round Table Fireworks event begins with a flaming torch-lit procession from Central car park at 6.15pm marching up Castle Street into Farnham Park, led by a Scottish pipe band in full regalia. There is food, mulled wine, Hogsback beer and children's rides along with a 'Best Guy' competition, and of course the Bonfire at 7.15pm. All followed by a fireworks display to music at 7.45pm.The band "Late to the Party" will be providing live music starting around 7pm and again after the fireworks plus there's more entertainment from Eagle Radio on the night.

A double market event in Alton.
Enjoy the great taste of Hampshire, savour the delights of truly local food reared, grown, baked, caught and brewed in Hampshire. Home reared meats including buffalo and game, eggs, cheese, milk, ice cream, wine, beer, apple juice, bread, cakes, bakes, pickles, chutney's, preserves, fruits and vegetables, wool & coppice goods. Plus a broad choice of high quality locally crafted products on offer from all around the district, hosted by Alton Lions Club.

Winter Ceramics Exhibition

The Farnham Pottery Quennells Hill, Wrecclesham, Farnham, GU10 4SL

West Street Potters will be delighted to welcome you to the 'Fancy Loft' at their home in The Farnham Pottery where you'll be able to view a wide diversity of ceramics work and styles in this exciting exhibition. Each object shows off the individual artist's techniques, creativity and imagination, with much of the work being on sale. Pop along and meet friends in the Pottery Café too.

Eco Fair

Gilbert White was a pioneering naturalist and gardener who focused on the natural word around him. The Eco Fair offers a great way to be a part of and develop a sustainable society, as well as a place to buy eco and sustainable Christmas gifts. Lots of interesting stands offering a range of eco-friendly products, including artisan foods, organic cotton bedding, natural cosmetics, babywear, beeswax wraps, soaps and much more! Plus local environmental organisations, promoting their own eco activities in the area.

Contemporary Craft Show

Midhurst Rother College, North Street, Midhurst GU29 9DT

Over 60 highly-skilled designer-makers from Sussex and Hampshire will provide a colourful feast of creativity to brighten the dark days of winter. The show is perfectly timed for Christmas shopping and visitors will be really spoilt for choice. The café within the spacious show area will provide light refreshments throughout the weekend, whilst more substantial fare can be found in the cafés, hotels and pubs in the delightful medieval town of Midhurst.

Petersfield Christmas Market

The Petersfield Christmas Festival Market has often been described as one of the busiest days Petersfield has ever seen! The crowds will be out in their thousands to visit the stalls and buy some unique presents and to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the entertainment in the build up to the festive period. The town will be transformed into a festive wonderland, full of awesome stalls and shops to buy that perfect gift for loved ones. With children singing Christmas carols, Santa in his grotto to see if they have been naughty or nice, fantastic rides and play areas for young and old alike … as well as mulled wine, fudge, cheeses and mince pies in abundance - what could be more fun!

Santa Special Steam Train Rides

Watercress Line, Alresford Railway Station, SO24 9JG

Travel in a festive train carriage for a magical trip where Santa and his jolly helpers visit you in your seat with a gift. Grown-ups get treated to white wine and mince pies, whilst children enjoy a soft drink and a gingerbread man. Kids will also receive an activity pack to keep them entertained on this enchanting one hour journey. Bring your best singing voice to join in with the Xmas songs!

Christmas Fayre

Enjoy this unique chance to soak up the festive atmosphere of Chawton House whilst doing your Xmas shopping. Browse the stalls selling handmade and local produce, enjoy a festive treat in the Old Kitchen Tearoom and meet Father Christmas in his grotto.
There will be plenty of Yuletide activities to keep the family entertained: decorate shortbread with your favourite festive scene; listen to costumed Christmas storytelling, and enjoy carol singing throughout the day.

Xmas Wonderland

The Rural Life Centre is transformed into a Christmas wonderland with something to enchant young and old alike. Take a ride through the woods on the Old Kiln Light Railway and visit the Elves' Workshop. There will be a chance to meet animals in their stables. Enter into the Christmas spirit with twinkling lights, festive music and a visit to Father and Mother Christmas in their magical grotto where each child will receive a gift.

Experience this unique Xmas market in the Victorian streets of Milestones Museum with over 40 stalls selling festive treats and gifts. Featuring costumed guides, visit Santa in his grotto, enjoy mulled wine and mince pies or take a break in our very own working pub, the Baverstock Arms!
Lots of family fun with Victorian themed make-and-takes and seasonal children's activities with carol singing performances from local choirs. Also learn about Christmas crafts and traditions from days gone by.

Jane Austen's Birthday Party

Jane Austen Museum and Chawton House

Visit Jane Austen's House Museum and Chawton House on Jane Austen's birthday. In honour of the occasion, entry on the door will be half price all day at both locations – or free if it is your own birthday!
Jane Austen's House Museum will be decorated for the season. With live music around the house and mulled wine on sale for our adult visitors to enjoy. Have a go at their festive family activities suitable for all ages and get in to the Christmas spirit!
A short walk away, Chawton House, or 'The Great House' as Jane knew it, will also be adorned with Xmas decorations and boughs of holly. There will be Regency choral music performances to entertain visitors and plenty of birthday cake!
